An eco-parking machine, first of its kind in the country, was inaugurated on Thursday on the premises of the commercial office of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory in the city’s Tejgaon area.
Inaugurating the machine, Master General of Ordnance Major General Anup Kumar Chakma expressed the hope that the double-decker machine will help lessen the city’s unbearable car parking problems caused by slapdash and unplanned car parking.
He said the eco-parking machine will bring about a revolutionary change in easing the country’s unbearable traffic problems alongside earning huge foreign currencies by exporting the device abroad.
Talking to the news agency, the managing director of the BMTF Brigadier General Mohammad Mominul Haque said they had already received export order of 140 eco-parking machines from Japan by the next year while Malaysia, Indonesia and South Korea also expressed their keen interest in importing the device.
‘We are planning to augment manpower, necessary apparatus and space to meet the increased demand for the machine,’ he said, adding that the eco-parking machine is being produced through a Bangladesh-Japan joint venture and it is an innovative initiative of the BMTF, run under the management of the Bangladesh Army.
The technology, completely free from electricity, can accommodate two cars on the space for one. It can be applied to indoor and outdoor at market places, apartment and office space, he said.
