Voting remained suspended for an hour in the centre, Presiding Officer Akhtaruzzaman said. Some people attacked the Holokhana Dwimukhi High School around 11am on Saturday and vandalised a booth there before snatching away ballot papers, he said. The polling officers were also assaulted, Akhtaruzzaman said. Voting resumed in the centre after one hour. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO-Fulbarhi) Sheikh Belayet Hossain said 100 ballot papers were recovered from the nearby market. Witness Aminul said supporters of the Jatiya Party-backed candidate Chowdhury Shafiqul Islam had occupied the polling station. Sadar Police Station ASI Anwar Hossain said a strike force led by UNO Hossain arrived at the centre 40 minutes later and restored order.
