IT is a matter of honour that among countries to host the 14-Nation World Cup Cricket-2011, Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka in Bangladesh will be the venue of its first match.
The other World Cup matches will be at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and Zaher Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Narayangonj Osmani Stadium and Sheikh Naser Stadium in Khulna, would be alternative venues.
Bangladesh will host six group matches and two quarter finals. We are surprised to learn that no matches would take place in Rajshahi, an old divisional headquarters, with sixteen districts. Rajshahi has two stadiums, including the large newly-built divisional stadium.
