Japan to give loan for constructing 2 power projects

The Japanese government will provide around $ 900 million loan to Bangladesh for constructing three mega infrastructure and power projects.
Of the total amount, $ 133 million is earmarked for Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) or Metro Rail Project, $ 467 million for Bheramara Combined Power Plant and $ 338 million will be lent to construct National Power Transmission and Distribution Line.
The Ambassador of Japan handed over three note verbals to Finance Minister AMA Muhith in this connection on December 2.
Both Muhith and Japan's Ambassador in Dhaka Shiro Sadoshima briefed the media at the office room of the minister on the latest gesture of Japan towards the development needs of the country.
"Japan remains committed to the development of Bangladesh as we want to work for the betterment of the people of this country," Shiro Sadoshima told reporters after handing over the note verbals to Muhith.
“We want to work together with you,” the ambassador said.
“The loan agreement will be signed any day soon for effectuation of about $ 1.0 billion, including another $ 112 million project for health sector,” he added.
