Army chief on 5-day India trip

Chief of Bangladesh Army General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan is visiting New Delhi on an invitation from the Indian Army chief.

He left Dhaka for India on Sunday. General Bhuiyan is scheduled to return to Dhaka on Apr 4 to conclude his five-day tour.
The Army chief’s wife is also accompanying him on the trip, apart from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 33rd Infantry Division, Director of the Army Headquarters and some other officials.
General Iqbal Karim will meet with the Indian Defence Minister, heads of the country’s army, navy and air force, and the head of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command.
Indian Army chief Bikram Sigh visited Bangladesh in October last on an invitation from his Bangladeshi counterpart.
